getting ready!

So if you've found your way here, you must be aware of my impending adventure in Granada, Spain! I'll be living in Spain for five months with a homestay family and attending the University there, completely immersing myself in the Spanish language and culture, and hopefully picking up some language skills along the way! I leave on January 1, bright and early, and although I'm kind of nervous about doing all this completely on my own (in a different language no less!), it is going to be an amazing way to start the new year. Meanwhile, I only have a month left before I fly away into the wild blue yonder, and I have SO MUCH TO DO in that time!! It is a little overwhelming, but I'm just going to have to take it day by day and attempt to not procrastinate too much. Once finals and choir are over things will hopefully become much easier.

I'll be updating this blog on a regular basis (hopefully!) throughout my travels, so everyone here at home can keep up with me and what I am doing. I'm guaranteeing you now that I will LOVE to hear from you all when I am gone, so please feel free to write me back, either by responding to posts here, or by email at kbmahaney@gmail.com. Thanks, I love you all, and I can't wait to get started on this new adventure!

katie! i followed the link to your blog and now i'm a certified follower. :) I've been keeping one since i've been here (more like a novel). when you arrive and need help with ANYTHING you let me know. i suggest you get a prepaid card and i can expalin that and then we could talk easily, too. just posted really BAD granada picutres on FB (friends' camera) but take a look if you like. i know you are nervous and it won't be easy at first but you adapt well and will learn and love like you expect in time. merry almost christmas!!!

Katie, we are so lucky to be included in your life and adventures. You are so curious and talented. I use to read fiction books in junior high about girls that went to school abroad and dreamed of doing the same. Of course, that was in the early 1960's. We will eagerly await each entry. Go Girl!!!
